Dressing up without dressing up

If Just like me you don't want to go around in a full blown costume during Halloween, be it because you don't live in a country where Halloween is celebrated or because you just don’t like to, I have the solution.

Dress up without dressing up!

To illustrate what I mean take a look at the 3 examples I made using polyvore.

Alice in wonderlandFirst up is Alice in wonderland. To get the Alice in wonderland look take a blue skirt and a white top (or a dress like the one above) put on some white tights and a pair of Mary Jane style shoes. Finish of the look by adding a black bow in your hair, any teacup or playing card jewellery will make this look more awesome. Keep your makeup light and maybe paint your nails something like this.

Black CatNext up is a black cat. This look is super easy just put on all black clothes something tightly fitting will work best. Put on a couple of cat earrings or a cat necklace. The cat eared hat gives it all away, you could of course leave it at home for an even more subtle look. Makeup wise cat eyes are a no brainer, keep your nails a simple black or dark colour.

Snow white

And now for my favourite one of them all, Snow White. Get yourself a yellow dress and a bright blue jacket or cardigan. A simple black shoe and a red headband complete this look. I adore apple necklaces and they fit perfectly with Snow White’s Image. Use a bright red lipstick and make sure your face is as fair as possible. For your nails something like this would work great.

Have you ever done something like this? Will you try it out? let me know in the comments.signature

It’s Raining

It has been raining almost this whole month.

Don’t get me wrong I like rain but I wanted to celebrate summer by going to beach and wearing summer dresses. There was almost no day to do that this month and this rain is getting me down. To help myself see the positive side of a rainy day I went on over to Polypore and made some rain proof outfits.Rainy day outfit This is my favourite one. I really love the combination of yellow and grey. And I think a rainy day is the best excuse to rock those 2 colours.

What do you do to get yourself out of a bad mood caused by rain?

Little owl nails

A little while back I stumbled upon a lovely pinterest tutorial on owl nails. Being the owl lover I am I had to try it immediately. The tutorial looked so easy at first but I sure had a hard time making my nails look anything like little owls.DSCN0659 As you can see I still have to practise a lot on my nail art skills.

The tutorial is made by Sharon Gigante, A lovely Italian blogger who blogs over at consiglimakeup. Her tutorial is both beautiful and easy to follow. tutorial-nail-art-owl

Did you ever try this tutorial or a similar nail tutorial? how did your nails turn out?

The 20s

A little while ago I watched Midnight in Paris. And I really enjoyed the movie, it had everything I love: Rain, Paris, artists, writers and…1920s fashion?

Yes, this movie made me fall in love with the 1920s fashion. The hats, the hair and the dresses all look so lovely.

20s inspired

After a bit of Polyvore magic I made this 20s inspired outfit.

The cardigan in the picture is from ShopRuche.  I actually wanted to purchase it because its so lovely but my size is sold out.

Hex Nut bracelet

After browsing Pinterest for about 4 hours I found a bracelet DIY by honestlywtf

This tutorial seemed really easy so I went to the store and got myself 100 meters of twine and 60 hex nuts. Got home and found out 100 meters is a bit to much twine since I only used about 2 meters max for my 2 bracelets. I did tweak the design a little and for my second bracelet I coloured all the hex nuts with pink nail polish before making the bracelet. hex nut bracelet Sabjesblog

Sabine's way of the hex nut bracelet.

what you will need:

  • some kind of string
  • 30 hex nuts
  • hands
  • (optional) nail polish

how to do it:

Cut yourself a piece of string going twice around your arm. it’s always better to get more string than finding out you cut to little when you’re almost done with your bracelet.

Cut an other piece of string twice the size. Fold it in half and with the other string tie it into a loop. You will now have a knot with 3 strings on one side and a loop and a little piece of string at the other side. Trim of the little piece and start braiding the tree strand at the other side of the knot.

After about eight braids start braiding in the nuts, (If you want to know how visit  the original tutorial.) braid in 30 nuts and normally braid 8 braids again.

Tie a knot keep tying knots until you have a knot big enough for the loop to hold on too. Trim off the excess string and your done.

After I finished the bracelets I put a bit of clear nail polish over all the nuts to make sure they don't rust.signature

spring wish list

Since the weather is changing for the better I wanted to take a look at the spring clothes. Not that I will be able to buy any since I'm saving to move out of my mothers house coming summer, but a girl can always window shop can’t she? even if its an online window. To be honest I didn’t really like most of the clothes that are online right now. Which is probably for the better seeing my whole not able to spend money situation. But I did fall in love with the clothes pictured above. The shoes are from H&M and although I’m usually not satisfied with the quality of shoes from H&M I do really love the colour and shape of these sandals. Since I’m in no way able to buy them anyway it doesn't really matter if the quality is bad or not on these ones. On to the top, I really like white t-shirts with these kind of prints on them and I especially love that its not a normal cut t-shirt. The dresses simply scream spring to me and if I break my commitment to saving money its most likely going to be on one of these dresses. I just love the subtle floral print of the first one and the coral colour of the second dress and the back is to die for. The shirt and the dresses are all from New Look which seems to be becoming my new go to clothes store.

chalk coloured hair

really want to try this look her hair is actually coloured with chalk and it washes right off. the site said it would work on dark hair but I’m a bit sceptical. I guess ill have to find good soft chalk and a friend who wants to join me in the chalk insanity. maybe ill wait until summer.
